Okay, so this post will be about me. On Tuesday night I was on my way to work and realized that I had forgotten my cell phone. Normally not a big deal, except that I had a feeling I would be needing it Wednesday morning. Skip to Wednesday I was leaving work, minding my own business when my car started to drive a little funny. For those of you familiar with my neighborhood, I was North of Franklin on Eastern. Yikes! Well I decided I had to pull over and see what was going on. I had a flat tire, yea fun! I had pulled over in a parking lot that had a pay phone. I only had 2 quarters on me, otherwise cash only. I put in my money and dialed Nicks cell number, the phone then told me to deposit 50 cents. It took my money, but didn't register it. Now I have no change and no way to call anyone. I tried to call collect, but Nick doesn't answer his phone if he doesn't know the number. Oh joy!! After 4 tries I tried to decide what my next best option was. Well I decided to walk. I walked 1.5 miles to a gas station. I could have stopped at the Franklin/Eastern BP station, but decided against it.

At the gas station I asked if there was a phone I could use. There was one, in the corner of the parking lot. At least the sun was out. I got 2 dollars in change and tried to call Nick again. I thought if I called a lot he would get the idea. Well, I was right and he answered after the third call. I started to talk to him and tell my story when I realized he couldn't hear me. This phone was broken too. GREAT!!!! So now I was pissed off. I went back to the gas station and asked if there was a different phone I could use. He allowed me to use the phone. So again I had to get Nick to answer the phone. I left a message first and then called back. By now I was so angry and tired from working all night I just wanted to go home and sleep.

Nick left work to get me. I wasn't about to walk back to my car and my house was about 2 miles away. I decided to stand in the parking lot. Again, at least it was sunny. After 20 minutes I think I heard music play when he pulled into the parking lot. From hear the story is pretty boring. The tire was changed yada, yada, yada. I now have 4 new tires on my car. It is amazing how badly I needed them and how used to the old, bad, tires I had gotten. It is so easy to turn the steering wheel.

So lets just say I will probably not forget my cell phone again anytime soon. And Nicki, where were you when I needed you? I was half expecting you to save me on the side of the road again.

NICE! Glad you made it out alive. My engine blew on my van last November on I-635 and State in KC (makes Franklin and Eastern look like EGR)and I had to walk up to the gas station and call Lynise to come get me. I feel ya' sister. Not good!

Oh girl, I'm sorry I wasn't there to rescue again. I'm not always cruising the Franklin and Eastern neighborhood in the wee hours of the morning so maybe next time you could get stuck somewhere a little more convenient so I can find you :)
So sorry you had to do all the walking Prego!!!
